The NHL playoffs are distributed in the United States between the ESPN family of networks and the Turner networks. The two media companies are in the third year of their seven-year contract with the league.

In the first round, Saturday evening matches will be broadcast on ABC. Other first-round matches may be broadcast on ESPN and TNT’s other channels such as ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, TBS or TruTV.

ESPN and TNT split the second round, as well as the conference finals. Since TNT broadcast the Stanley Cup Final last year, it will return to ESPN in 2024.

In Canada, all playoff games are broadcast on Sportsnet and CBC.

How many rounds are there in the NHL playoffs?

There are four rounds in the Stanley Cup playoffs: first round, second round, conference finals and finals.

In the first round, the best team in the conference plays against the second wild card team. The winner of the other division will face the other wildcard team. The number 2 team from a division plays against the number 3 team from the same division.

After that, the teams will not be seeded again in the second round. Instead, the winner of the series will play the No. 2 and No. 3 teams for a division against the winner of the series, and their division winner will play the wild card team.

For example, for this postseason, let’s say the Bruins, Maple Leafs and Lightning rank first through third in the Atlantic in that order. The winner of the Bruins’ first-round matchup against the wild-card team will face the winner of the Maple Leafs-Lightning matchup.

Then the final two teams from each conference will face off in the conference finals. Each conference winner will then compete for the Stanley Cup in the finals.

How many games are there in a series?

Each series, regardless of the round, plays a best-of-seven series, meaning the first team to win four matches advances to the next round.

Each series is played in a 2–2–1–1–1 format, meaning the team with the better record plays Games 1, 2, 5 and 7 in its home arena, while the opponent hosts Games 3, 4 and 7 . 6. Only the first four games in the series are guaranteed, with games 5, 6 and 7 to be played as necessary.
