SCAN to present Harrington painting portrait in oil

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) presents “Heidi Harrington Painting a Portrait in Oil” on Wednesday, April 24 at 1:30 PM on the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at The Flagpole) . The demonstration is public and admission is free.

Award-winning portrait artist Heidi Harrington was born and educated in the United Kingdom. She received the Royal Academy of Arts Richard Ford Award and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award and has exhibited several times at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and at the British National Portrait Gallery as part of the BP Portrait Award.

She has also appeared in solo exhibitions at London’s Riverside Studios and the Beatrice Royal Art Gallery.

Harrington moved to the United States in 2004 and currently lives, paints and teaches in Westville, New Haven. She regularly teaches at the Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan and the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, and also offers private lessons.

“Self-Portrait” is a 16-by-14-inch oil on linen by Heidi Harrington, who will be a guest artist for SCAN on April 24.
