Thunder and lightning and heavy rain are forecast for the coming week

According to weather forecasters, parts of the UAE will experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in the coming week.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) predicted that thunder and lightning along with heavy rain would hit parts of the country from Wednesday evening (May 1) to later Thursday (May 2).

“(There will be) moderate to heavy rain in scattered areas with isolated lightning and thunder, with the possibility of some hail, starting in the west on Wednesday evening and extending over most regions of the country on Thursday,” the NCM said . State news agency Wam reported this on Sunday.

The NCM also forecast winds to reach 40 miles per hour on Thursday.

Rain was also forecast in the UAE for the first part of the week, but the worst weather was expected on Thursday.

Abu Dhabi is expected to see thunder and lightning from around 7am on Thursday morning, May 2, along with heavy rain – according to weather app Windy.

The highest temperature expected in the capital this week was on Tuesday and was expected to reach 38°C in the early afternoon.

Thunder and lightning were expected to arrive in Dubai later on Thursday between 10am and 4pm, Windy predicted.
