Surat: Gujarats Surat Lok Sabha Constituency will hold elections in May. Phase 3 voting is scheduled for May 7. After Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani‘s candidacy was denied and all other contenders withdrew from the race, Mukesh Dalal, the BJP’s nominee for Surat, was proclaimed the winner on Monday without a challenge. After the announcement, Dalal received the Member of Parliament (MP) certificate from the Surat District Collector. Eight other candidates, besides Dalal and Kumbhani, were vying for the Surat Lok Sabha seat. Pyarelal Bharati of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was the final contender to withdraw from the race.

2019 and 2014 Lok Sabha Elections in Surat

Darshana Jardosh of the BJP became the first woman to win from this area in 2009. The assembly seats of Olpad, Varachha Road, Surat West, Surat East, Karanj, Surat North, and Katargam are included in the Lok Sabha constituency. With 795,651 votes, BJP candidate Darshana Vikram Jardosh prevailed in 2019. With 247,421 votes, Ashok Patel of Congress finished in second. In 2014, Darshana Jardosh of the BJP won with 718,412 votes, while Bhupat Bhai Desai of the Congress came in second with 185,222 votes.
