Barcelona will have to agree to a major move to sign the treble-winning midfielder

With the summer transfer window just around the corner, Barcelona are preparing to strengthen their squad with new signings and strengthen areas that are in desperate need of reinforcement.

The impending return of the transfer window also brings speculation about players who have previously been linked with the transfer window blue grains.

Bernardo Silva, a household name in Catalan newspapers, is once again on Barcelona’s agenda as the 29-year-old’s €58 million release clause will be in effect this year.

Barcelona will have to make sacrifices to sign Bernardo

However, signing Bernardo Silva is not expected to be a cakewalk. Although his price tag may have been reduced following his new contract with Manchester City, Barca’s financial situation forces them to be cautious.

And according to MARCA, Barcelona need to sell a star player to sign Bernardo Silva. Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong or Raphinha are the ones who could leave.

Because creating room in the wage bill and raising funds for Bernardo’s fee will be essential, only one of the above names will be able to generate the financial flexibility needed for such a high-profile takeover.

All three players have a decent number of candidates, with De Jong and Raphinha having the best chances of getting the ax this summer.

But even if Barcelona manage to oversee the departure of a big name, they will likely pursue a defensive midfielder before turning their attention to Bernardo Silva.

The sale of Frenkie will be essential to sign Bernardo

The report also claims that Bernardo Silva’s possible transfer to Barcelona would have major financial implications.

When salaries and depreciation are taken into account, his expected annual costs are more than €25 million.

In order to pay Silva’s contract without exceeding the financial limits, Frenkie de Jong is the only one whose sale would provide the necessary financial relief.

In fact, the departure of players like Raphinha or Ronald Araujo would not provide the same financial benefit.
