Grim hired as assistant superintendent of the Muncie schools

MUNCIE, Ind. – Muncie Community Schools has filled its assistant superintendent vacancy by promoting Eric Grim from his current position as the district’s director of secondary education.

Grim has worked for the school district in various capacities for the past 26 years, including five years as principal of Northside Middle School.

Grim will succeed Chuck Reynolds, who will become the new director of public education and CEO of the school district once Lee Ann Kwiatkowski, the current CEO, retires at the end of June. Both Grim and Reynolds will begin their new duties on July 1.

“Several great candidates applied for this opening, but Eric really stood out,” Reynolds said in a news release. “He is always concerned about what is best for students, and his years of experience with Muncie schools will serve him well in this new assignment.”

As assistant superintendent, Grim will supervise district principals, oversee school safety and “help execute many facets of the MCS strategic plan,” according to the news release. In addition, he will coordinate Ball State student teachers in the district’s buildings, as well as BSU research projects involving Muncie students, staff and families.

“Muncie Community Schools is full of talented, dedicated educators who I am proud to work with every day,” Grim said in the news release. “I know and respect Dr. Reynolds for a long time, so the opportunity to work with him to continue the progress we’ve made over the last few years is exciting to me and I can’t wait to get started.”
