Gardener ALERT: Midwest residents are bracing for a cold weekend with frost warnings

Champaign, Ill. – Gardeners across the Midwest are on high alert as a series of frost advisories go into effect this weekend.

The National Weather Service has forecast cooler temperatures and possible frost in several Midwestern states, and urged the community to protect sensitive vegetation. Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 30s and even high 20s in some areas, especially on Saturday evening.

According to weather reports, the warnings extend across portions of eastern Iowa, with warnings of patchy frost, especially north of I-72/Danville, Illinois. These conditions can harm early spring growth, and residents are advised to cover or bring plants indoors to prevent damage.
