Adam Scott Loves ‘Parks & Rec’, But Jokes Calzones Will Appear on ‘Gravestone’ (Exclusive)

Adam Scott isn’t tired of Calzone jokes yet!

On Parks and recreation – which ran for seven seasons from 2009 to 2015 – viewers saw Scott’s character Ben Wyatt’s enthusiasm for calzones and all things fantasy. The 51-year-old actor tells PEOPLE exclusively that fans still bring up his character’s unique quirks.

“Calzones are something that I feel like it’s almost like calzones are going to be on my tombstone or something,” he laughs, crediting the frequent references he receives to the show’s co-creator Mike Schur . “Every time a calzone gets sent to me at a restaurant or something, I text Mike and say, ‘Just so you know, this still happens.’”

Scott says his relationship with Calzones seems to have come full circle. The actor reveals that he was once a “pizza delivery boy” and in his previous life often delivered the bags of cheese, dough and sauce.

“(It’s) ridiculous that calzones follow me,” he jokes, adding that “there’s nothing wrong with a calzone.”

The Disconnection Star knows the Calzone reference will “never die” but appreciates the “hilarious” but “dumb” nature of the joke.

“It’s so much fun. I really love that show. I was into it before I even joined. I was a huge fan,” he reflects.

Although almost a decade has passed since the sitcom was on the air, Scott says the cast has remained close all these years and confessed that he hadn’t seen his former co-stars on a daily basis.

“I miss everyone. We’re all in a texting chain, and at least once a week we all add to the chain, and it’s amazing. Everyone is so great. I really miss them.” he continues. “They’re the best. It was so much fun. No one took it for granted. We all had a great time… I know people say that about their shows. It’s annoying, but it really was so much fun, and everyone. ..I understood that it was special and that no one was tired of going to work.”

In addition to Scott, the series also starred Amy Poehler, Chris Pratt, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Adam Scott, Rashida Jones, Aubrey Plaza, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir and Retta.

In April 2022, Poehler told PEOPLE that she is “always ready” for a reboot of Parks and recreation. She said, “Every time someone gives me the floor, and I’m sad.”
