Dubai Airports on Friday extended the temporary restriction on inbound flights to Dubai International Airport (DXB) due to operational issues in the wake of heavy rainfall this week.

However, the departures will continue as planned.

“Dubai Airports is doing its best to support passengers at Dubai International who have been affected by travel delays due to the recent unprecedented weather conditions experienced by the UAE.

“However, due to the ongoing disruption, and to aid the effectiveness of the recovery, DXB is temporarily limiting the number of inbound flights from 12 noon on April 19 for 48 hours. The departures will continue,” the statement said Friday afternoon.

About 1,244 flights were canceled in the first two days after the heavy rains. Many incoming flights have been canceled due to operational problems at the airport.

Emirates also previously suspended check-in for all customers in its network traveling through Dubai on onward connections until 11:59pm (GMT) on April 19, to support the recovery of operations following recent bad weather in the Dubai hub.

Passengers already in Dubai and in transit will still be processed for their flights, the report said.
