Filming locations, cast and true story explored

‘My Child Has My Doctor’s Face’ is a lifelong thriller that tells the shocking story of a couple’s IVF treatment, revealing a dark secret behind them. Jessica and Dylan succeed in conceiving a child through IVF at Dr. Preston Bellamy. Their young child, Henry, becomes the apple of their eye, but something is bothering Jessica. She works with another client of Dr. Bellamy and discovers that the doctor is Henry’s biological father and is the father of all of his clients’ children.

They take it upon themselves to gather evidence and punish him for his reprehensible actions. The film revolves around a familiar background and tells a gruesome story. Questions arise about the film’s filming locations and the story’s authenticity in the real world.

Where was my child and was my doctor’s face filmed?

Filming for ‘My Child Has My Doctor’s Face’ took place entirely in and around Los Angeles, California. Principal photography for the project began on February 3, 2024 and was completed in mid-February of the same year. The cast and crew seem very proud of the work they’ve done and the cautionary tale they’ve brought to life. “I was spoiled to work with such an amazing team on this project,” actress Kelsey Fordham wrote in an Instagram post. “Led by the insanely talented (Joshua Butler) as our fearless director.”

Los Angeles, California

Filming for the film took place primarily on locations in the City of Angels, with the production team traveling to various standing sets to shoot the scenes. The gated white mansion that the doctor enters in the film is actually a Brentwood estate at 514 N Bundy Dr. The luxurious property features an outdoor dining area, swimming pool, spas, fireplaces and gated grounds with manicured gardens. The interior of the estate exudes sophistication with a marble spiral staircase, a chandelier, a fireplace and a sleek black piano. The production team rented the private property to shoot scenes of the doctor’s home.

The doctor’s clinic seen in the film is also part of a standing set on a film site. Los Angeles is home to a large number of ready-made shooting locations that Lifetime filmmakers often use. For this particular project, the team worked to a tight filming schedule and budget, shooting the film efficiently with support from Los Angeles’ extensive filmmaking infrastructure and generous incentives. Throughout the film we can glimpse the arid landscape of Southern California in the background. Other Lifetime films shot in Los Angeles include “Million Dollar Lethal Listing,” “Crowdsource Murder,” “Searching” and “To Kill a Stepfather,” “A Model Murder.”

My Child Has My Doctor’s Face is based on several true stories

The Lifetime movie was most likely inspired by several real-life cases in which fertility specialists artificially inseminated their female clients with their own sperm. There have been several such high-profile cases, with one of the most infamous – Donald Cline – having a Netflix documentary made about him. However, the problem is much more widespread than anyone can imagine, and in 2023 alone there were more than fifty cases of fertility fraud against doctors in the US.

Netflix’s ‘Our Father’ tells the real-life story of Donald Cline, an Indiana fertility clinic doctor who fathered more than 90 children between 1974 and 1987. His deception was discovered when the daughter of a former patient performed a DNA test at home and discovered links to eight half-siblings, ultimately leading to the revelation of Cline as her biological father. The story gained media attention in 2015 and an independent news researcher realized the severity of his depravity when more than 80 other children matched his DNA. Through battery lawsuits, breach of contract, breach of express warranty, negligence, constructive fraud, and others, Cline has paid more than $1.35 million to settle three civil lawsuits, with three more pending as of 2022.

Despite the apparent horror of fertility clinics, modern laws and safeguards, according to a spokesperson for the Boston IVF Fertility Clinic founded by Berger, make such events virtually impossible. The cases currently coming to light date mainly from the 1990s and earlier years, when such technologies and safeguards were not yet in place. The story of “My child has my doctor’s face” is an unfortunate reality for thousands of families around the world and presents an alarming cautionary tale that is valuable for families looking to opt for fertility treatments.

My child has the face of my doctor

The film is directed by Natalie Polisson, who plays Jessica Graff. Natalie is an accomplished actress and is known for her performances in ‘Solve’, ‘Dr. Death: The Undoctored Story, ‘Chicken Girls’ and ‘Piercing Wounds’. Opposite her as Dr. Preston Bellamy plays Daniel O’Reilly. You may have seen Daniel essay Isaac in “Christmas Angel,” Daniel Boone in “Into the Wild Frontier,” and Jack Ward in “The Girl on the Mountain.”

Jason Tobias joins the film as Dylan Graff. Tobias is a veteran actor known for his work in ‘Can’t Have You’, ‘Downrange’ and ‘My Doctor’s Secret Life’. He has also taken on guest roles on shows such as ‘Better Things’, ‘Justified’, ‘Dead To Me’, ‘The Fosters’ and ‘Nashville’. Other actors appearing in the production include Kelsey Fordham as Sarah and Viron Weaver as Henry.
