I really wanted the cliffhanger to be really intense, like you could turn on the second movie straight away.

“That’s what I really wanted, a lot of momentum. Is there a Rebel Moon Director’s Cut?

That is indeed true. Thanks to Justice League, few filmmakers today are more synonymous with the term “Director’s Cut” than Zack Snyder, so it’s perhaps unsurprising that Netflix has announced that it will also be releasing expanded editions of the Rebel Moon films – with a clock rate of approximately every three hours.

It’s not yet clear when the first Director’s Cut will release, but we do know that Snyder believes it’s a very different prospect than the already released version. First, the director’s cuts will be darker than the released film.

Speak with RadioTimes.comSnyder explained: “The existence of the director cuts is one thing, Netflix has been incredibly supportive of that process and started working on it with me, saying, ‘Oh, here’s more money, you could make some having to do other strange things.’ like, just go crazy.” And I was like, ‘Okay, cool!’

“In the past, my director’s shots have been a response to the studio saying, ‘Don’t do this, we don’t want to see that,’ while (Netflix) has been the opposite. They’re like, ‘Look, you’re giving us this film for a wide audience, which we really appreciate, we would like to see what you would do if you were completely left to your own devices.

“When I’m doing my own thing, I tend to be a little bit dark, I can’t help it. It was nice to know that I had both, so that allowed me to, I would say, make this version making the movie as fun as I could.”

As we hear more about when exactly the Director’s Cut will release on Netflix, we’ll update this page accordingly.
