Barack Obama lists favorite movies of 2023 – update

Barack Obama shared the list of his favorite movies of 2023 and added a message acknowledging the writers and actors strikes that have brought Hollywood to a standstill.

“Earlier this year, writers and actors went on strike to call for better working conditions and protection. It has led to significant changes that will change the industry for the better,” Obama said in a social media post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Obama shot films produced by Higher Ground, the production company founded by him and his wife Michelle Obama. The former American president acknowledged his preference for films like Rustin, Leaving the world behind And American Symphony.

“I’m biased since these films were produced by Higher Ground, but these are actually three of the best films I’ve seen this year,” he wrote.

Obama also shared his “other” favorite films of the year, including Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which starred Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer.

The Ben Affleck-directed film Sky, about the origins of the basketball coastline Air Jordan, was also on the list. A.V. Rockwell’s A thousand and oneabout a woman who kidnaps her son from the foster care system, was one of Obama’s favorite films of the year.
