Hempel appoints Barriau as Chief Technology Officer

Hempel has announced that it has hired Emilie Barriau as Chief Technology Officer, a new position within Executive Group Management, with a special focus on innovation. The new Technology Executive Vice President area spans R&D, Procurement and Sustainability and serves as mutually reinforcing powerhouses of innovation.

Barriau is an internationally experienced senior innovation manager who spent 15 years at Henkel Adhesives Technologies, where he served the transportation, metals and electronics industries in various global roles. In 2021, Emilie joined Ecolab, where she leads the Research, Development & Engineering organization for the various companies in Europe and IMEA. Emilie is of French descent. During her studies and career she lived in France, Great Britain, the US and Germany, where she is currently based. She has a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry from the University of Mainz, Germany. As part of her tenure at Henkel, she was expatriated to the US for a period of three years. Emilie will move to Denmark in the coming months.
