After regrouping and recovering during Nashville SC’s bye week, the Boys in Gold head to Florida to take on familiar foe Inter Miami in an Eastern Conference matchup. The two teams met in Concacaf Champions Cup action earlier this season.

Main storylines

Players set to return to the squad – After missing key players in different areas of the pitch for large parts of the season, several players are nearing a return to first-team action. Randall Leal and Tyler Boyd could be “part of the equation” against Miami, according to head coach Gary Smith.

Using time off to regroup – With no game played since April 6, the team took the opportunity to regroup ahead of this weekend’s match against Inter Miami.

“I think the last few weeks have served us well to get out on the training pitch and really double down on some of the work that needs to be done in the group,” Smith said. “Players looked very focused, lots of energy.”

Last home game until end of April – The Boys in Gold make a trip to Inter Miami on April 20 before returning to GEODIS Park on April 27 to take on the San Jose Earthquakes.

Opposition player to watch

Although it is still early in the competition and no player is leading the Golden Boot race, striker Luis Suarez sits at the top of the scoring list along with Christian Arango (RSL), Christian Benteke (DC), Dejan Joveljic (LA) and Lewis. Morgan (RBNY) on six goals.

The Uruguayan striker also has three assists to his name this season, good for nine goals in eight games.
